Who doesn’t want to gain the most he can from an internship?
Having a cool workplace and supportive team members make us do a little more than we can do.
Here is a story by Anonymous who didn’t want to work in a 9-5 firm.
He was supposed to do a coding internship in a reputed company, but that was not his type. Working with a 9-5 company with oldies stuffing large office chairs, with protruding bellies on which they balance their endless tea cups trying to meet deadlines was not something he wanted to do. From the very beginning, he wanted to work in a dynamic startup culture where he could learn a lot more stuff than what he could in a big company.
Working in startups let you learn plenty of things; starting from the very basics to complicated shit. You even get more opportunities and exposure which has a rare chance to get in a company as in a company you have a defined work, and in startups, you can work with anything you want.
When he came to know that an IIT Bombay startup was doing a pilot project at Indore, he couldn’t resist himself to get in there. He immediately applied through a friend and then had an informal yet thorough interview process. He got selected and was jubilant, and why would one not be after getting into the dream project. He got selected for a unique role which matched both his strengths and interests.
So his task was marketing as well as tech. Marketing was something he was good at, and technical stuff was something he wanted to learn.
He says “And it was perfect – I coded by night and growth-hacked by day. This unique role gave me a good deal of insight into how an entire startup works, and now I am hooked to this culture!”
He was working with Medd. The startup had beautifully converted an empty flat into the perfect startup office.
He describes his workplace as – ” A huge table surrounded by chairs and sofas provided the ideal location for collaborative work. I liked the work culture so much that I stayed back several times in the office itself.”
What more could one ask for; a flawless workplace, awesome work environment, supportive team members and to add on to this, the task which is of your interest area.
He got what he wanted to for an internship, not working in a big corporate company and doing a limited task, but exploring his area of interest.
And not just this he even got to meet the entire core team in Bombay, and for him, that was the high time of his internship. And he experienced Powai Valley and even met the development team in person.
This internship was a great experience for him.
